If you're coming from another tool
Everything you need to get started with your files, memories and glossaries.
What files it opens
Drag the file onto the home page or click “New”. Video and audio are never uploaded: they open on your computer.
- Subtitles: SRT, ASS, SSA, VTT, SUB. With video, audio waveform, CPS and quality checks.
- Video and audio (to create subtitles from scratch): MP4, MKV, MOV, WEBM, AVI, M4V, MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC.
- Office and publishing documents: Word (.docx); PowerPoint (.pptx); Excel (.xlsx); OpenDocument (ODT, ODS, ODP); EPUB; InDesign (.idml).
- PDF: the text is extracted for translation and delivered as Word (.docx).
- Text and localisation: MO (compiled gettext); Text (TXT); Markdown (MD); HTML (XHTML); JSON; ARB (Flutter); PO (gettext) (POT); XLIFF (XLF, SDLXLIFF, MXLIFF, MQXLIFF); Java properties; RESX (.NET); Qt Linguist (.ts); WiX (.wxl); DITA (DITAMAP); CSV (TSV).
The translation is exported in the same format the file arrived in.
.sdlppx packages and .sdltm memories
- Project packages (.sdlppx, .sdlrpx): open in one go, each file goes into a project folder and the status of each segment is kept (draft, translated, approved…).
- Returning the job: from the folder you can download a .zip with the translated .sdlxliff files, ready to deliver to the client.
- .sdlxliff files on their own also open and export keeping the statuses.
- .sdltm memories: are imported like any other memory (see below). They must have the same languages as the project.
- If a package includes something we don't use yet (for example, termbases), we let you know when you open it.
Memories and glossaries
- Translation memory: tab Resources → “Manage…”. Import TMX o .sdltm as main or reference memory, and export to TMX.
- Glossary: import TBX, CSV o TSV, and export to TBX or CSV.
- Large memories, with more than 100,000 units, run smoothly.
Where everything is
- Memory matches and machine translation: panel Results; Alt+1, Alt+2… apply each one.
- Confirm and move to the next one: Ctrl+Enter. You can see the shortcuts in Edit → “Keyboard shortcuts”.
- Display filter: “Advanced filter” above the segment list (filters can be saved).
- Verification and quality: tab QA y Messages.
- Word count, analysis and quote: Project → “Reports and quote…”.
- Versions and backups: Project → “Versions…” (yours and, with an account, automatic backups of each block).
Your data
- Without an account, everything stays in your browser: nothing leaves your computer.
- With an account are stored on the server so you have them on any device and can share them. Bear in mind that they aren't end-to-end encrypted: if a client requires strict confidentiality, work without an account.
- In Settings you can download all your projects and delete your account whenever you like.
- More details in the privacy policy.
